NEW Ruger Mini-14?
I've had several so I am acquainted with their accuracy problem. But, an article in a magazine claims that through some tweaking and new machinery, the new mini will group at about 2- 2.5 inches. Is this hype or for real? And it cost a bit more as well.

If it costs any more than it already does, you will be at the same cost as an ar15, which will shoot better, and have affordable high cap mags available.

True, but for those of us who live where them evil "assault weapons" are illegal, the Mini-14 is pretty much our salvation. A more accurate version would be very welcome even if it does cost more.0 -

For richbug, excellent point. The debate over whether or not AR'S jam (not from me, I don't know) scared me off but lately I haven't seen any reporting along those lines. 0 -

That sounds right to me. The catalogue lists it for over $700 but Ruger's MSRP is always a bit high compared to real prices.0 -

hello;
had a mini. tried many of the tricks to improve accuracy. nothing worked. the mini 14 is just black hole thats eats money. first 2 shots are close, for each shot after the group grew at least 1 inch per shot.

I have owned several ranch rifles over the years and ALL were inaccurate, They are really nice well made carbines lots of fun to carry and play with......If they shot straight they would make the perfect truck gun or light varmint rig. All the feedback i have benn getting from my fellow club members that purchased the "NEW" ones are they shoot the same as the old ones.....

I put a new shillen (sp) barrel from brownells on a ranch rifle for a customer and it will shoot 1 inch gps at 100yd.. But it cost him almost as much as the rifle did. I told him an AR would end up costing less with the ranch as a trade in but he wanted the ranch rifle at a total of around $900.00 0 -
I have had my ranch stainless for 5 yrs, It will group 1.5, with me shooting 30 round clips, just take my time, it does fine. I just got my hands on a colt heavy match AR15, have not had the time to compare

I have nothing against a Colt- or Armalite- or Stoner designed AR Clone(?) other than the number of O-rings, tiny springs, balls and pins required to keep it running.
The Mini has no teeny delicate gas tube to plug or kink, it will fire with a little sand in the receiver, and 2" at 100 yds is fine for a high-cap,medium caliber carbine. How far away are any of your targets when you normally drag out the truck guns and go plinkin'?
