opinion on rugers
anyone own the ruger p345's? id like to get a .45 and these guns are really affordable...just not sure how i feel about a polymer framed gun in .45

Poly framed probably should not be your worry.
I have only dipped my toe in the poly-gun basket.
I have a Ruger 22/45, which is a version of their very popular 22 auto pistol with a 1911 type grip angle and control locations.
It is a jewel. Other Ruger products I have I would recomend, but none of them are centerfire auto pistols.
The 'gun of the year' was awarded to the Taurus 24/7 by a popular gun interest magazine. It is a poly, hi-cap pistol that got rave reviews. The only complaints I have heard are that the grip gathers dirt and gets crappy...well I don't put much stock in that complaint.
The glocks are poly and they have a large following. If LEO's will trust a poly, it is probably a decent product. I do not own a glock, but have shot several nice ones. My sticker is that I want the 'controls' in the location that I am most familiar with....i.e. 1911 locations. This is a 'old fart' not wanting much change from the 1911 styling and all metal guns.
Poly is probably the new wave. We handgunners will either ride it or pass it by and keep our 'old style' handguns. Don't let just the poly condition keep you from a good gun. Find one you can shoot as a trial. It sounds like you may just want to try a few poly-guns.

I like Rugers. I have a KP90DC and several other much more expensive .45's. None of them work any better that the Ruger. The Ruger leaves the house with me more than all the others combined. I have looked at the new 345's but do not have any real experience with them.

never had the 345 but do have a p89 and p 95 both are good guns , 0 -
I THINK THE P-345 IS A GREAT LOW PRICED GUN !!! I have a p-94 and the p345 and the 345 feels so much better in the grips and is very accurate and easy to control!!! just my opinion i`m not an expert!!! 0 -
I would've bought one if it weren't for the damned loaded chamber indicator. ILS and LCI are abominations. Otherwise, I have always found Ruger firearms to be exemplory; rock solid and reliable, if not a bit ugly in regards to the P-series auto's.
Save the seals-club a liberal instead.0 -
