1911A1's in Iraq

i was wondering what kind of value a 1911A1 that was given to Iraq by U.S. during the Iraq/Iran war would have? these 1911A1's are all over this country. anywhere from beautiful condition to chrome or gold plated (the iraqis are so tackie).

    Yup, thanks to our wonderful politicians and "friends" at the ATF who are always looking out for our safety and well being, these firearms will never make it into the USA legally. Don't you feel much more safe knowing that a firearm that is produced in the USA and can be purchased in the USA can't be imported back into the USA?

    No more or less than one that wasn't given. What is important is the orginality of the weapon. Since none were made after '45, that would mean the slide, frame, barrel, etc.

    As they aren't specially marked, IF it ever got back into the country, the chance of detection as one that went to Iraq is proably close to nil.

    Not sure what all the restictions are, but some firearms can be brought back as war souviners. My son sent back some rifles and a muzzle loading pistol from Afghanistan. Seem to recall they must have a stamped date of manufacture prior to 1890.

    US military issue firearms cannot be brought back into the US; the only exception is firearms imported by the federal government. This is based on an executive order issued by Slick Willy; Dubya has the authority to rescind that order, but has chosen not to.

    "War souvenirs" must, by definition, have been manufactured by a foreign country.

    It would, though, I think, be legal to take the pistols apart and bring back everything but the reciever. Buy a reciver here and you are all set.
