Old .32 Smith & Wesson...

At a friends house last night and he wanted me to look at a pistol that had originally belonged to his grandfather. Jeez...a near new condition Smith .32 revolver. Excect for turn marks, this revolver would pass for new. It had several patent dates stamped on it (all '06 or older). Just wondering how or where i would find info on it.

  S&W can provide info on early S&W guns. It will cost about $40. You will get a letter with the date shipped and where to.

  Does the gun have a side latch or a top latch to open it?
  what are the patent dates on the barrel and what is the barrel length?
  Is it blued or nickle plated?
