Parker Bros Double Barrel Info needed
I am cleaning some old guns for a lady I do some work for and I am wanting to get her some values on her grandfathers guns. Her grandfather started Rudy Farms sausage(fyi).
One is a Parker Bros 12-guage (I think but could be 10 guage) double barrel. S/N on the barrel is 14265, also says patd Apr 11, 1876. There is also a S/N on the piece that locks the barrel to the stock and it is 24355 and it is the same S/N that is on the stock/trigger. Anyway the barrel is in good shape, the stock has a crack and is looks like Mr. Rudy hunted with this gun a lot because the detail is worn down. There is a shield on the stock and a metal butt plate on it.
The other old gun is a Lefever Nitro Special Double Barrel S/N 257907. That is about all I can find on this gun. It is not a 12-guage, but I dont know if it is a 16-guage or 20-guage. Neat gun, but the Parker Bros is definitely cooler!

Hello and welcome bachmad,
The Parker has mixed parts and is not original as manufactured.
S/N 14,265 would indicate a 1879 manufacturing year.
S/N 24,355 would indicate a 1882 manufacturing year.
If numbers are correct, the gun is a wall hanger. The gun
is unsafe to fire as it would have twist barrels.
Even if the Parker was sent back to the company for a rebuild/repair,
Parker would have stamped the replacement parts with the same S/N as
the receiver.
The Lefever Nitro Special was the lowest *grade* but a solid gun.
Made between 1921 and 1948. .12, .16 and .20 Ga. and also a .410 bore
were available. A single triger was actually available. Price depends upon condition and Ga. or bore. If a smith gives his blessing, shootable. 1010
