Makarov or Bersa in .380 caliber?
Which of these two would you choose and why in .380 caliber, a Bersa Thunder with matte finish, or a Russian commercial Makarov .380 with adj. sights? Both guns are about 95%. The Makarov has a second magazine, extra Pearce grip, black military holster and is $150. The Bersa is $140 with one magazine. Neither have boxes or papers. Thanks for any replies.

Both are good guns, I do, however, find the Makarov to be wonderfully 'overbuilt', very durable little gun

I've never shot a Bersa that small, but I do know their 45's are an extremely good value.
Still....I don't think I've ever shot something as utterly reliable and accurate as my wife's Mak. It's the 9x18, so ammunition, while inexpensive, is not as readily available as .380 ammunition.
Take a hard look at Makarov in both those calibers.

I'm under the impression that the Makarove is actually not a .380 but instead is in between the .380 and the 9mm Lugar (parabellum) 9x19.
If true, the Makarov 9x18 would be more powerful thant the Bersa .380 (9x17?)0 -
Fox, the Makarov is made in 9x18 and 9x17 (.380). The 9x18 is a .364 diameter bullet whereas the 9x17 is a .354 just like the 9mm Para. The only difference between the versions of the Mak is the barrel, the mags and everything else are the same since there is so little dimensional difference between 9x17 and 9x18 cartridges. The 9x18 is usually about 15% hotter than the .380. I've had handloads for the 9x18 that put out a 95gr XTP at around 1100fps which is damn hot for a mouse gun. A lot of the Makarov milspec ammo is pretty hot as well, the Barnaul HP's were brutal IIRC
