Winchester 1911 Shotgun -- Help

I need some help in locating any information on the break down and parts list of this shotgun. My grandfather passed away and I inherited one. I know that they are not worth much but it was my grandfathers. Any information or directon would great. Thanks

    welocme to the boards!
    your 1911 shotgun was winchesters attempt to side step john brownings patented bolt handle. when john b. offered winchester the A5, they turned it down, so he went to belgium and history was made. john liked remington, so he shared his bolt handle pat with remington when they made their remington sportsman that looked just like an A5, but old winchester was left high and dry in the semiauto market. so they tried to make a gun without a bolt handle. it was a miserable flop. your gun is that attempt. people use to burn hands when they were trying to cock a hot gun, slam fires, etc...so they gave up and stuck to the model 12. wasnt until john brownings pat expired in the 40's that they tried with the model 40. ww2 killed that gun. so it wasnt until the model 50 in 1955 that winchester began making semi autos again. by that time, remington and browning had the market sewn up and winchester has been in catch up mode ever since.[^]

    hello and welcome. the win mod 11 can be a bear to take down. i am talking all the way. i have had a couple in my shop to hot blue. my advise is to pay attention to detail if this is what you are wanting to do. jack first should have any parts that you need. let me know if i can help you.

    Thanks everybody for the information. I am still in need of takedown instructions for this shotgun. Anybody have any info. on the takedownwould make my day. Also I need some opinions, I have tried to load the magazine cylinder and the shells do not want to stay in the tube. I think that the Cartridge cut-off spring might be bad. I think that this is the case because te castridge cut-off is not moving very well when the bolt is closed. Let me know what ya'll think- Again thanks.
