1100 in .410...

Thanks to all those that gave me advice in an earlier post about Rem-1100's in .410. I picked up a used one locally for $350 and have been dove hunting with it. It has worked flawlessly!!! Thanks...

    im jealous. ive drooled over 1100 410s since i was a kid hunting rabbits with a beagle. id give my left leg to acquire a used one for 350. the 659 or 700 that they fetch new is too much for me since i dont hunt bunnies out here in ca. but the day i move to eatern snowshoe land im buying a beaging and an 1100. that is a match made in heaven!!

    You did indeed get a good deal!

    After I bought mine, I went on a year and a half quest to get all the barrels for it.

    Well, it was a strange deal. I put an ad in the little free local paper we have out here saying that I wanted an 1100 in .410. 3 weeks and no calls, so I got discouraged and bid on-line on an old 11-48 in .410. Nobody was watching the bidding because I picked it up for $350! Blue is about 95%, wood is a little rough but not cracks or gouges and checkering is great (this is a 1955 year model with a MOD. choked barrel!) Really a cool gun right? I'm waiting for it to get here and my phone rings... An old timer from our little town calls and tells me he saw my ad. I go over to see HIS 1100 and though it's a little knocked around and filthy, I ask what he wants. He has $300 'into it' he says and $300 is what he wants, unless that's too much... I told him that was a pretty dang good buy and write him a check for $350. I love it! Now, I gotta find someone who will trade me an old Ithaca 37 in 20 gauge for this 11-48! Think I'll run an ad again!!!

    pig hunter, thanks... but I'm really set on an old 37 (corn cob forend and plain barrel kind). Thanks again and who knows, maybe another ad in that paper will yield me a nice little 37 (even tho when I took this 11-48 out yesteday it shot perfectly and patterned great....) Decisions... decisions...!

    good morning rmill,

    not to give all the secrets. many times i have called a free swap/shop on the radio saying i was looking for an old gun. most times nothing but other times pay dirt. one does not catch a fish by keeping the hook in the boat.
