Standard 12 Guage vs. Marlin 12 Guage "Goose Gun"

Hello again. After doin a bit of trading with a local Gunshop, I got my hands on a Marlin Commemorative 12ga. full 36" "Goose Gun". What a big shotgun she is. Named her Tiny. Assides from the cheezyness, what sets a goose gun apart from a regular 12ga. other than the long barrel length? My great uncle said if you couldn't shoot a bird/whatever with it, it was long enough to hit them with. Does it involve accuracy or streamlining the shot better? Any clues?

    what sets gooseguns apart from other 12ga's? well, they tend to break!
    bolt actions are not the strongest action for 12ga's. other than that, a 36"er really does turn heads!

    Hey Nambu, just to letcha know, it may not be a Comm. but thats what the Salesman said. It also has a little brass seal on the stock. I'll try to get some pics of it. :P

    I found a 10 ga. for a customer and the only difference was it had a 34" barrel.The removable mag was huge and it held two rounds.This gun was massive and I don't think you could break it if you wanted to.[^] [:)]

    DUH !! it looks like a Commemorative to me.All Marlin firearms that year Had the 100th anniversary medallion in the stock.I've owned several.[:)]

    Out of all the guns I have owned, I can't recall owning a Marlin with that medallion on it. WRONG again! Sorry for the trouble..nambu

    The medialion had the dates 1870-1970 and the serial numbers on the one I've owned started out as 70-XXXX. [:)]

    Someone can dish it, but can't take it!! Not very manly.
    I would recommend no more attacking people who have no beef with you, until you give them a reason too. Name calling occurs when the truth is stacked against you.
