300 Remington Ultra Mag
How do yall like this caliber? I want one in the Remington PSS. I like the ballistics and i hear the recoil is tolerable. just want to hear from you before i go get one. thanks

LOVE IT! i have two of them, and i'm only 19 years old. Granted i'm a big kid, at 6'3, and 200 pounds, but recoil isn't bad at all. i've shot as many as 60 rounds through the both of them in one day. i have the remington 700 sendero sf, and the 700 LSS. great shooters, great ballistics, and better than expected accuracy. good luck! 0 -

That depends on what you consider "tolerable". Recoil of the .300 ultra in a sporting weight rifle is about 45-50 ft/lbs at 22-25 MPH; roughly double that of a 180 gr. .30-06 load. It will beat you up on the bench. But if you're a recoil junkie like some of us [;)], the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. I have a 375 Ultra (hence my handle), and I love it. But a 10 round sight-in session is plenty for one day with 80.7 ft/lbs of recoil at 24 MPH from my hottest loads (300 gr. Sierra at 2970 FPS). So it really depends on you. If a .30-06 causes you discomfort, a .300 Ultra will cause a terrrible flinch. But if you can launch nuclear loads from a .45-70 all day, it won't be a problem. You have to decide. Just remember, all the downrange energy in the world don't mean sh** if you miss the animal becasue of a flinch.
Save the seals-club a liberal instead.0 -
don't want it for animals now, want it for nice close holes in paper. possible use on animals when i get the money to go west. never had any recoil problems with 30-06, 257 weatherby, or 300 win mag. do you know anything about how much the brass for this beast will be costing me?

My 1000yd light gun is chambered in 300RUM. H1000 and retumbo with 200-216gr pills has yielded 1/4moa and less.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
