Scope help plz
Alright...i have a kahles fixed 4 power helia scope, it is on my 12ga. slug gun, well what is the unit of measurement for the clicks...i can't seem to figure it out..it can't be in 1/4 of inches because at 50 yards i'll move it what its supposed to be and it moved it really far...so i don't think it is 1/4" and i dont' wanna shoot a shot, then click it then shoot another one, cuz thats 4 dollars wasted in 2 shots cuz of sabots, so i figure someone has to know what the clicks equal...thanks for anyhelp!

Well I would only be guessing but the only standard clicks that I know of are 1/4" and 1/2" and metric. Most scopes tell the unit of measurement on the adjustment dial. It sounds like you may be having a problem with a mount or with your scope, not just in the adjustment of it.
I know Kahles has a website try looking that up and see if they have a help line you can call or e-mail them. You may be able to look up all the specifics for your scope there too.
What happens if you shoot 3 shots without making an adjustment, do they form a good group? If they don't you may have a mount or scope trouble. It is very difficult to make an accurate adjustment by shooting one shot then adjusting, typically you shoot a group and make an adjustment based on moving the center of your group to the center of your point of aim.

Yes the gun does group good, the shots aren't just scattered...thats what i forgot to mention, the scope doesn't rattle or anything, and im 99.9% sure that the base and rings are tight, i went to the websight and it looks like it moves about .36 of an inch at 100 yards, and normal is about .25 at 100 yards, so that does explain to me why at 25 yards id move it the correct clicks for 1/4 and it would be 2 inches low...im pretty sure this scope is still good,but give me some suggestions... 0 -
A scope with 1/4 clicks will give you a quarter inch of movement at a 100 yards and only 1/8 inch at 50 yards.
At 200 yards your 1/4 inch becomes a movement of 1/2 inch, and so on....
If it will not move that amount, the scope needs looking at by who ever made it. It can be a bad scope even if it don't rattle...

The only thing I can tell you is 1/4" is standard. If you want to get where you need to be, zero at 25 yds. Just remember that adjustments should now be 1/16th" because 1/4 / 4 +=1/16", or 1/8th" if your scope is 1/2 moa adjustment.
Shoot your first shot. Then move the appropriate distances vertically and horizontally using those measurements, i.e. if you are high 2 1/4" and right 3/4" you should drop the point of impact 36 clicks and move left 12 clicks(half that if your scope is a 1/2 moa adjustment). Shoot another shot. You should be at the point of aim.
The reason I teach this method is it takes a lot of the variables out like wind and short/hot rounds. It allows you to 'one-shot at a time' zero in your rifle or shotgun. You can then go on a ballistic program or chart and adjust up or down for the zero range you want.

I just went to the Kahles site and found that the Helia 4X36 scope has a .36" adjustment at 100 yds/Meters. That is about 1 1/2 times what a normal 1/4 moa will adjust. Anyhow, this should be in the instructions with your scope. I still recommend zeroing at 25 yds and dividing the adjustment distance by four, then mathematically correcting for elevation.

a lot of german stuff is 1/3" clicks,..the old diavari zeiss 3-12x56 is that way. I never understood that logic,..but then again they aren't much into benchrest or target shooting.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
