20mm question...

I have this 20mm cartridge, on the collar it says " JHE 05-79 M55A2 ".

I was told what the designation would be when I got it, but I don't recall it, it's been too long since it was given to me.

The cartridge stands with a 12gauge 2 3/4", an 8mm KragJorgensen and a CCI Standard .22LR.

  (1) Target practice M55A2. M55A2 TP ammunition is used for gunnery training and test firing in lieu of the service round. It has a hollow cavity projectile body without a fuze (inert). The nose of the round is constructed of aluminum and is swaged to the projectile body.

  Be advised that most 20mm ammo is "electic fired" , via a small elacric charge thru the insulated firing pin , thus a "electric charge" can and will set it off (ststic electricity)??? , Be very carefull , we used to have to wear 'grounding straps , ect.' when handling these , you may want to consider making it into a 'dummy' round ...

  I loaded thousands of these thing F-106, F-111, F-4, F-15, and F-16.
  they are electrically fired but, they are not that touchy, for yrs the F-15 we used ammo mods, where the ammo that came out of the aircraft slid down a metal tray into the mod, where the all banged around each other, would not try to make it a dummy. you can find true dummy ammo we used them to check system.
