BAR aluminum receiver question
My teenage son is considering the purchase of a slightly used Browning BAR 30-06. This is the Grade I (basic) model, with traditional forearm (not the new tapered style) and an aluminum receiver. The question is about the aluminum. Are there any problems with this rifle? Can we expect this to be a "last for a lifetime rifle"? Keep in mind this isn't a magnum...just '06.
BTW, the gun shop is aksing $600, which includes a scope base. Probably would grade 99% for the metal and 98-99 for the wood. Price sounds fair to me (new is $699), but would appreciate opinions here too.

In my opinion that is too much for the rifle. I hate to tell you this but, I got a price from Wal-Mart, of $670 for a BRAND NEW Bar Safari just a short time ago. My opinion, if you're gonna spend $600 anyway, might as well buy brand new for just a FEW dollars more! OR, look for a better deal on something used. If you're nerves can take it, wait until "the last minute" and deals will start appearing as the Deer Season approaches. Again, just my opinion. Best of luck!
