What is the difference in a pawn lic. and a dealer lic.?

One is a pawnbroker and the other is not. I don't know why the BATF chose to make a distinction at the time it was made, but it makes a small difference now.
When I call NICS, I give my FFL number. In the number is the code O1, telling them I have a regular FFL. That number brings up a screen with blanks for the operator to fill in. When a Type 02 dealer calls in a NICS check, and the operator keys in the FFL number with the code 02 in it, a different screen pops up, because the operator will ask the dealer, "Is this a sale or a redemption."
That's all the difference I know.

thanks there the same price and I was wanting to get a dealer type lic. so that I could order stuff for myself. Guess I'll try for the 01 dealer. 0 -
Good Luck, it is illegal to get an FFL for your own collection. You will need to jump through a lot of hoops.
