Colt 1903 pocket hammer
OK, having some difficulties, perhaps now missing a spring which will interfere with disassembly. Problem: Button under barrel is loose and now you can't slide the flat takedown pin out from under the barrel to allow the slide off the rear of the frame. Any suggestions?? Anyone know where you might be able to find old colt parts?

Try http://gunpartscorp.com/ also Gun List always has a lot of advertizers who may be a possibility. You may also be able to find someone who can do a repair if you can't find a replacement. I just now rebuilt a 1903 and will look and try to figure out something for your. If I learn anything, I will post it later. 0 -
I took the slide off my Colt 1903 Hammer and learned nothing specific about what could cause your problem. The disassembly slider is held in place by the recoil spring pushing against it which in turn is pushing the button. The spring pressure is pushing the spring follower against a cut-out in the slider which keeps is from moving sideways unless the button in pushed. The only thing I can guess it that if the recoil spring is broken it would lose its push against the cross slider and the button. If the spring follower is somehow stuck in the cut-out the slider would be held in place. It might be possible to cause a shock on the back of the slide and disengage the spring follower from the cut-out which could release it. There could be some kind of foreign matter, chip, etc. should not be there that has things bound up. Hope this helps, maybe gives you some ideas that will do some good. 0
