On the .357 Magnum Factory Registered one, is there
supposed to be "REG" on the frame at the yoke cutout along
with a number, or just a number?

  Thanks QD67. A friend has one, S 99xxx serial number, but
  does not have REG in the yoke cut-out. It does have a different
  number stamped there. 3 1/2", Nickel, Tyler trigger shoe and
  grip adaptor (brass?). About 80%+ on finish, very TIGHT, smooth action.
  Gave him the address to write S&W for information.
