Dove Shooting

what do you guys shoot at doves on opening day.

Thinking of going with my remington model 11 modified with 8 shot at about 1250 FPS.

Opinions?

    Browning Gold 12GA. with mod choke and 8 shot at about 1250. Later in the second season here in AZ, the birds get wary and distances get longer. I move to a full choke (a real skill test[;)]) and 71/2 or 6 shot. Just sold a 20ga over and under to a friend so he can have a bird gun and I'm already kicking myself for it.

    Savage Fox 20ga SxS and whatever shells I bought a case of at Wally World a few years ago.[:D]

    Or,just for sheeets and grins,I might try the Savage Fox .410 I picked up a few months ago.I think I've got a box or two of 7 1/2's layin' around somewhere.

    If I shoot like I usually do,the .410 will give me an excuse.[;)]

    Somwhere along the line.I'll probably slip the modified tube into the Ulti-Mag I use for turkeys and give it a whirl.

    I'll use my Benelli Nova 12ga, modified, with either Estate, or Winchester #8.

    SKB Model 150 side by side in 12 gauge, 26 1/4" barrels and screw-in chokes. Usually number 9's in the skeet 2 choke and number 7 1/2's in the modified choke. Both handloads with paper hulls--Federals.

    I don't know about your states laws, but I would loose my gun, my license, and get a hefty fine for having more than 3 shots in my gun or having a gun capable of holding more than 3.

    Who said anything about more then 3 shots? Unless your state has a law that requires a SxS or O/U? We can't have more then 3 shells at a time, our guns are capable of holding more, but our guns are restricted with a plug.

    the three shot rule is a federal law. on any i repeat any migratory bird it is illegal to have a gun capable of more than three, unless fixed in such a way you would have to tear down the gun to change configeration.

    My mistake[:I], read the post in a hurry and thought it said 8 shot, as in 8 shots. Nevermind[:D]
    I use a 1oz load of 7.5's at 1340fps from Mod or Imp Mod if they're flying high. When they come in over the grape vines I use Imp Cyl.

    Benelli Super Black Eagle, 26" Imp Cyl loaded with AA hulls reloaded with 1 1/8oz of 7.5 or 8 shot going about 1150 fps.

    This has worked great for me for a long time.
