TRADED FOR a mauser rifle rebarreled to .308 caliber short barrel synthetic stock nice job my question is was it commercial or a military in its former life markings are as follows a star emblem followed by SerieC.CH NO5351 MAUSER- WERKE A.B. OBENDORF A/N. also has mauserlogo on top rear of reciever I would like to mount a long eye relief scope on it for a scout rifle any comments or suggestions would be appreciated thanks Rick

I have an older mauser sporterized .243 and I am trying to find info on the exact make and model. Also, I need a new barrel is there an aftermarket barrel that I could purchase? 0 -
Hello you don't say if this is a Commercial or military action that was sporterized. . Most military mausers will have a thumb cut in the left hand frame rail and a code or name on the front ring . we need to know any and all markings on the rifle and yes you can buy a barrel that will fit the action but might be a different contour for the fit in the forearm of the stock. 0 -

I think your best best for finding a replacement barrel if it is a military mauser is Lothar Walther. Any number of barrel makers out there produce excellent barrels for sporters though. Read the list on the post 'Long range rifle platform' posted by Nononsense. Otherwise, I'd go to www.sst.benchrest.com. There is also a list of benchrest gunsmiths there. -Good luck
