Browning 2 shot auto

Any one here can tell me anything about a Browning 2 shot auto. Looking for a buddy of mine. He tells me it was made about 35 years ago. I gave all my reference books away so I am at a loss. Thanks all.

    A friend tells me he has a Browning (Belgium) 2 shot automatic he wants to sell.

    Question #1 - where might I find a history of this gun?

    Question #2 - value?

    Yes I've heard of them and seen them. Also known as a double auto or "twenty weight" Of course value depends on condition and originality. so probably anywhere from $150.00-$600.00? just a WAG.........Some guys really like them however, they certainly were never as popular as the "Auto-5" just my two cents...........

    the 2 shot is known as the double auto. invented by val browning and marketed in europe in 1952 as a legal semi auto option to 2 shot only shooting in europe where sbs's ruled. its 12 ga only. it didnt catch on and it was marketed here in the usa in 1955. it has a short recoil action instead of the long recoil action on his fathers auto 5.
    early guns were made of steel receivers. in 57, alloy receivers were introduced as the 'lightweight.' it came in all colors: black, gray, brown, green, blue, and red.
    bbl lengths were 26, 28, and 30.
    style bbls were plain, matted, solid recessed rib, vent rib, and diamond post rib. it was renamed the 'twelvette' and is sometimes refered to as such.
    in 1960, the grip was lengthened and the design of the forearm changed from curved to blocked. john brownings portrait on the buttplate changed from a full side shot to a 1/4 angle. guns prior to 60 were known as one eyed brownings and 61 and on were 2 eyed brownings, since he is looking more towards you than to the side.
    the 'twentyweight' gun was introduced as a 1 lb lighter gun equal to a 20ga semiautos weight, thus the '20' weight. it had unique bbls that only fit the 20wt. they were 26 1/2" long in plain matted and vent rib only. the wood was made of birch instead of walnut to cut weight and some internal parts were made of alloy instead of steel.
    the unique feature of the double auto was its speed load feature. with the bolt locked back, all you had to do was shove a shell into the loading port on the left side of the receiver and it cycled into battery. lefty's loved the gun. also its one button bbl takedown was popular.
    chokes offered were: cyl, ic, skt, mod, im, full.
    the gun was made in low numbers. only around 46,000 in 17 years. last gun was made in 1971. it is a true sleeper.
    big complaint of the gun was kick and cracked wood. otherwise, value of gun is determined by how much original finish is left intact, since alloy scratches easily.
