Remington Speedmaster 241

I disasembled my 241 and cleaned it. Then I reassembled it, however
it now fails to recock the firing pin now. Got any idea whats wrong?

    I have a Speedmaster 241 that shoots 22LR. It was my grandfathers. It's a nice little rifle, but it jams a lot I doubt I can shoot three bullets without it jamming. Bullets are fed into the stock but they cannot make the final curve into the chamber. They miss the hole and get hung up.

    I have cleaned it several times and oiled it, but I stil cannot get the bullets to make the final transition into the hole.

    BTW, I have heard the jokes about semi-auto are really auto-jam, but I really wish I could get this thing to fire repeatedly. It's a nice little rifle and in great condition.

    Can anyone help me?

    That's odd,I have four 241's.Two are LR and two are "Shorts Only".

    I haven't had any feeding problems with any of them and have fed them every variety of cheap bulk ammo out there.

    Have you tried different ammo?

    I have heard from a few 241 lovers like me that say they can be picky.

    One thing's for sure,DON'T GIVE UP ON IT!!

    If you can get it workin' right,your gonna love it!

    Maybe a visit to a reputable "smith" is in order if different ammo doesn't fix it.

    Yes, I have tried several different brands, same results.

    The problem is at that concave elbow that aims the bullet towards the hole. The bullet misses the hole and the lead hits the side of the hole to prevent it from entering. At first I thought it just needs a good cleaning as this curved piece is difficult to clean. Removed a fair amont of carbon, but it didn't help.

    (No jokes about not being able to find the hole please.)

    Are you positive it is the .22 LR version and not the .22 short model?
    My Model 24 works fine. The 24 came before the 241 but basically same rifle

    This was the first thing I checked.

    I pulled the rifle out and double checked.

    It reads 22 Long Rifle-Smokeless-Greased.

    Thanks for the info about the .22 forum. I'll give them a try also.
