For you smiths out there

I was getting ready to take apart a friends Mossberg 500 tonight. The safety is sticking and lo and behold it has a funky screw head. What is this head called and can I get a bit from somewhere like brownells?

  The head is that way for a reason, Mossberg doesn't want anyone fooling with it. Just clean the firearm and lube the safety, perhaps use compressed air to remove any crud from the area of the safety. If the safety has a problem, then take it to a smith.

  Or you can use a plastic pic NOT METAL to remove the crud.

  That (funky) screw head has the slot cut so it will tighten up but your not able to loosen it.
  If it absolutley has to be removed, it must be drilled out, and you do not need to replace it with the exact same type screw............

  the 'non removeable' screw can be removed by placeing the reciver in a drill press vice, center the screw under the chuck and clamp a screw driver bit in the the chuck (sized to fit the screw). hold down on the drill press lever while turning the chuck c.c.w. by hand.

  Well folks, you have certainly answered my questions. I will do what I can with air and a pick and then if all else fails get out a dremel.
  
  Also, since I realize my limitations, I always check my work carefully and if I have any questions about it I take the weapon to a local gunsmith. I am not even close to good yet, let alone perfect and this has happened before!!
  
  That being said, this is the only way that I am going to learn.
