Riverside Mod #215 12ga SXS
Hi folks,
I need some information on a Riverside Model #215, 12ga side x side with 30" BBLS.
The gun appears to be in very good condition with very clean unpitted
bbls, no dents or dings in them and very tight action.
Question #1 - Will this gun safely handle modern ammo?
Question #2 - This shotgun has a serial # of 4740, can anyone give me an approximate age or date of manufacture?
Any help would be appreciated.

If it has a 1915 patent date, its safe to shoot with modern ammo, but I wouldn't use magnums or steel shot. 0 -
My reference notes that the, "Riverside Arms Co. #215" was a trade name used by Stevens on their shotguns for many years prior to W W II.
As the serial number range vis a vis the DOM isn't given, can't help you in that respect.
The barrels are listed as being steel, given their age ( 90? years ) though, my 2? is to have a gunsmith knowledgeable in shotguns. Inspect and testfire before use.
