8mm Lebel Ammo?

My grandfather brought back a Berthier M1916 from France in WWII and it's in fantastic condition. I'd like to put a couple of rounds through it at the range, can anyone help me to find the compatable 8mm Lebel ammunition? Thanks, Josh

  Some surplus ammo is available at times if you watch the auctions. Remington loaded it commercially before WW2 and Norma since.
  
  If you buy surplus ammo, be sure the headstamp indicates "Balle D" which is the loading for the rifle. Like many other European rounds, the french also used this chambering in some automatic weapons and the rounds loaded for this use are reportedly "hotter" and "common knowledge" advises against shooting it in any rifle. Further, if you shoot the surplus ammo, it *will* be corrosive primed, so the proper cleaning procedures must be observed or the bore will rust up very quickly.
  
  I do have to note the conditon of the rifle is undoubtedly due to the fact it was only dropped once! [}:)]

  I have a Lebel Carbine and have been able to find corrosive surplus ammo locally. Lots of misfires (the ammo is likely as old as the rifle).
