Another ?? on the Mauser G33/40

Ok - this has a bent bolt handle (and modified safety) for use with scopes, but after taking off the lyman peep sight and mounting a leupold one piece base - I find that even with high rings the handle still needs bent more (by about 3/16") and I'm not set up to do this. I see that there are numerous forged bolts on GB and Ebarf - Would I be looking for a standard length bolt??? I'm not up on Mausers - this is the first one I've had so excuse my ignorance because I don't even know if it is a small ring or large. I know the numbers dont match the receiver so that is no big deal for a shooter... Thanks again!!

    The G33/40 is a short action. Have your current bolt bent right by a Gunsmith or have them weld another bolt handle on.

    According to this guy, http://p223.ezboard.com/fcurioandrelicfirearmsforumfrm45.showMessage?topicID=1.topic (Excellent Site!) the Czech made G 33/40 has the same bolt length as the standard Mausers, 6.370.

    The main difference between the G 33/40 and the other Mausers is the diameter of the barrel shank and receiver is smaller on the Czech made rifles.

    These are mainly commercial models, they are identical to Type II, with the exception of a longer magazine to handle 30-06 length cartridges. Main examples are the Husqvarna commercial action, and the Brno ZG47.

    OOps...Rufe was right. I meant standard not a magnum or long action which it would be shorter than ofcourse. My mistake and My apologies. It still could be easier to have the existing bolt either changed or a new handle welded on and you could also swith to a swing safty if you wanted. That can be done using the existing bolt shroud or by changing it too. I have them done both ways, it just depends how far you're going with the customizing.
