winchester model 50

What do you all think of the model 50? I looked at one in a local shop, 20 gauge 28" modified, couldn't believe how light it was for an auto. Any pros or cons on this model? Anything I should check for before buying one?

    I have found the DOM but how do we find out if it is a trap model? it has a 30inch full choke barrel w/vent rib

    field grade? skeet or trap?
    most field grades in well used condition are going for around 200 to 275.00.
    skeet and trap guns are fetching 500 to 700.00.

    Good evening jimdandi: I'm afraid our friend Bobski may be a bit premature in establishing a value. As duckhunter asked what is the choke, plain or Factory Vent Rib, has a recoil pad been added, if so what type, what is the LOP. If it has a factory recoil pad that would be a big plus. If it's truely a "first year" gun, with a serial number under 20,000 some Winchester people will pay more for it.

    I've seen a number of Md 50 Field grades that someone put a Skeet barrel on it, (WS-1) choke, a WS-1 barrel even a plain one goes for $250. So jindandi, you could have something that is only worth $200-$300, or until you answer the questions, if it has the word PIGEON by the serial number with Factory engraving it would be worth $2000-$4000. So get back to us with the answers.

    Hello everyone: so Bobski those must be "Candian dollars" you quoted[:D]! There is also a little thing called an ATF form 6 which would allow the buyer if in the US to it to be shipped accross the border.

    Again to get the maximun price for a gun, the marketing avenue chosen, is criticle. Locally one might not get what the gun would bring such as here on GB, (internationally).

    However, until the original questions I asked are answered, trying to establish a price in US or Candian dollars, would be just a shot in the dark!

    I don't really know the value but my dad bought one when they ist came out. Aside from weighing a long ton it was a great auto lader to shoot, very mild recoil

    jimdandi, there is one on gunbroker now that has been on there for about 3 weeks for $175 and the bluing is great shape, but all it needs is the wood to be refinished, and the gun wont sell? i think the problem is that you cant find parts for it?

    The serial # started with 13 and it is a plain barrel 30" full choke. Factory butt plate with no modifications. Thanks for the info... Looks like I have a buyer for $300 CDN.quote:Originally posted by jimdandi
