reason for feedback ??

My other post was wisely removed,,maybe this one will be as well,,,My question is how can a seller with 5 neg feedbacks ,,,all for the same reason,,GOUGING ON SHIPPING,,, be permitted to still operate here,,,I know now that i should have ck'd his priors,,,,had i done that i would not have bid,,,,BUT AM STILL CURIOUS ??

    The reason that you were removed is that the forums cannot be used to carp about the auctions. Read the guidelines.

    And the shipping was not that unreasonable.

    Just my 2 cents - I buy and sell. I expect shipping to be about $15.00 to $20.00 on a long guns either way. I'll pay $30 when shipped in a hard plastic case. If I charged over an average of $15 on shipping I'd be profiting on shipping. I shipped 3 rifles together to Calif from GA last week for $24.00 (UPS Ground). Then again, read the feedback, and buyer beware!

    I sell here on GB from time to time. There are always whiners about the cost of shipping. Some sellers do charge extra for their time or associated costs for taking the package to the post office or drop off point.

    I have always charged exactly what it costs from the post office to the buyer's home. I still have had some buyers complain even when what I charged them is stamped on the package.

    You said it yourself, the bottom line is check feedback before bidding.

    Guns only have two enemies: Rust and Liberals....

    I agree with you guys,,,I shipped a mauser 98 with a ton of parts to dallas from Pa,,,19-lbs was $ 14.00,,UPS GRD,,,,I will read all priors from now on,,,,I just assume everyone is as honest as I am,,oh well,,,end of subject.........

    Hello spookster: I ship guns from time to time and saw your original post about $27.00 being excessive. What you didn't say was for $27.00 how was the gun going to be shipped, ie: UPS Ground, UPS 2nd Day, overnight, US Priority Mail, US Mail overnight?

    When I ship west coast to east coast, I like to ship US Priority Mail, Insured, Return Receipt, etc. and depending on what the Insurance amount is, it usually from $25.-$30.

    I do have a few "gun boxes" that I use, all double box, reinforced, and they are expensive, about $15.00 depending on if it's for a rifle or a shotgun.

    I will agree that $27. is a little high for UPS ground, but for some other type of service not out of the question. Since one has to go to the UPS center to ship guns, not one of the out lying pick up places, for me it's 2 hours round trip, about 70 miles, with no direct route, (hi-way or freeway) so I try not to use them. Granted some of the larger gun shippers just have them pick the box up at the store, which is easiest.

    I know you asked him for the shipping charge but did you ask how it was going to be shipped for that price? Just curious.
