why use one of those when u can use an actual hunting load? theyre made for target shooting so when they go through the target they make a perfect hole, and not a ragged one. i wouldnt suggest it for hunting. get a bullet that u KNOW can drop the animal that u are hunting.

hello like most things there are 2 opinions and I don't think either is wrong. I have deer hunted for years with a 45 1911 type pistol with ared dot sight and 200 grain semi wadcutter swaged soft lead bullets. "about 1000 FPS " they have worked great and the recovered bullets are about the size of a quarter. A wad cutter it is true cuts a nice crisp hole in paper but soft lead will expand on impact with any object that offers some resistance." PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN. 0 -
Wise depends on YOU......
If you can hit the top of a coffee can at the distance you hunt; go for it. A .22 to the brain will kill. Hunting is a sport of nerves. If you stay calm, hit your mark and stay calm, the deer will expire.

Perry has it right once again, I am with jeff cooper on wad cutters in my case semi wad cutters, not only do I find that they put perfect holes in paper I find them more accurate, and would not hesitate to use them in a defensive situation or hunting, they have no jacket to impede expansion, and I have recovered .45's that where .88
