Rem. 700 Varmint Special 220 Swift

O.K. "Experts" I just purchased a Remington 700 BDL Varmint Special in 220 Swift, the barrel is 24" and marked "First Production" I've researched blue book and the Remington bible(John Lacy) but no mention of swifts in this model, the factory will only tell me it was produced in 1992 (Last year of production for this model)1967-1992 for this series, does anyone out there know approximately how many (Swifts) were produced or other calibers besides .222,22-250,.243, 6mm, 25-06, 7mm-08 and .308 ?

    1994 was the last production year for the varmint special. it is hard to say total production because remington does not release those numbers until the entire model line is discontinued. that means that they will not give the number out until they discontinue the model 700 and that could be a very very long time. the calibers in most common to rarest go something like this: 22-250, .223, .222, .243, 6mm, .308, .25-06, and 7mm-08. i believe the .220 swift was only made in 1992 and was more of a limited edition than part of the series. 1992 is the year they released the swift in the classic also. i saw one on AA a while back. hope this helps some. btt

    That helps a bunch!The one on AA was probably the one I purchased NIB, where did you find the information on rarity? Do you have the names of literature relevant to the remington 700?.TLR[:p]

    my FFL dealer is a big remington 700 nut and this is what he told me. also, i have all the varmint specials except the 308. it was outrageous the trouble i went through to find the 7mm-08. the 25-06 and the 7mm-08 were the two they didn't produce the entire time. i don't think they made the 7mm-08 until 81 or 83 and the 25-06 was dicontinued.

    I'm not an expert, but i did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

    Thanx alot, I can't explain the bug but it has sure left a mark[:p] These varmint specials shoot! Guess i have my work cut out for me for a few years! If you still need a .308 let me know
