Handgun Cal. 5.6 X 28 (new?)

Understand F/N has a handgun in cal. 5.6x28.
Also told Hornady will be making ammo for this cal.
Have seen the ammo and it looks really interesting.
Anyone have knowledge or experience with this cal. 5.6X28?

    IMHO, if you want to own/shoot a pistol that uses very high velocity, light bullet weight, ammo. You would be much better off buying one of the surplus Czech Military CZ 52's that are on the market nowdays. The going prices that I have seen for them is between $90 & $150. Some of the military ammo is loaded to over 1600 fps velocity.

    The F N pistols have been selling for at least 5 times that amount, and the very expensive commercial ammo has been neutered for PC reasons. So that the velocity isn't that much greater then the Czech Military ammo for the CZ 52. My 2?.

    thought they had something called the FN 5-7 Which was a 5.7x(28?) I think.

    Better to carry a pistol and not need it than need a pistol and not have it.

    Thanks for the fast response. Also not interested in the gun but
    am interested in a T/C Encore Barrel in that cal. if I find it fits
    a slot.

    I don't know if I would want to buy the FN for Concealed Carry..Why?? Because the Ammo that it shoots(5.7x28) has been shown to penetrate 50 layers of Titanium Plated Kevlar at 50yards.
    Sooo, the Gun has been given a bad name on behalf of the Police Force and by Several Anti-gun foo.
    Inconclusion, you are either going to make a quick enemy when you get searched by an officer, or there will be a law that will not allow you to carry such a weopon..

    Plus I was told the Ammo has been outlawed anyways, at least the FMJ.

    I'm a big T/C fan myself, but I would hold off on getting a barrel for the 5.7 because I'm not sure it will be around very long. The guns are rather rare and ammo may become scarce in a couple of years.

    Also you may want to consider that several common rounds can already duplicate the performance of the 5.7 without expensive brass, dies, etc. that would be required if you went with the F.N round. The .221 Rem Fireball, the .22 Hornet, .218 Bee are all fun rounds in a T/C barrel. Also the rimmed rounds like the Hornet are easier to pull out of a T/C barrel with cold fingers or gloved hands than a tiny 5.7 case. Just something to consider.

    Really appreciate your comments on the 5.6x28. Thanks to all who have
    commented on the 5.6x28. Always looking to expand my knowledge on guns & ammo I am not too familiar with. Also I really agree with what
    you said about 22-Hornet, 218-Bee, etc. I too prefer rimmed cartridges. T/C is my favorite firearm. So far: 223, 22-Match Target,
    44-Mag, 357-Super Mag, 7mm 08, 260, (22-K Hornet Pending) and a few
    others.
