winchester 12 question

i have a nice m-12 16ga. with a english stock and was wondering how common these are with a english stock and was it maybe made of over seas market? it's a early one as it has the rings on the forend

    Hello Light12: The English stock was an option, more common on pre-war guns than post. Not many Md 12's have english stocks, I wish I could say 1 out of a 1000 or, so but no real numbers have ever been published. Based on the 1000's of Md 12's I've looked at in the last 40 years, my guess would be about 1 in 10,000 guns have an english stock. More common on Trap and Skeet grade guns vs Field grade guns.

    Hello light12: Well that's a hard question. It sort of depends on the vintage of your gun, (pre or post war). The vast majority of people who would buy a Md 12 today would shy away from it, unless they really wanted one with an English stock. Myself I like them. But the key driver on any Md 12 is barrel length and choke, plain, solid rib or vent rib, barrel. Along with being all original.
