Colt 70 series MK4 Government
I recently bought a Colt 70 series MK4 Government 45acp for $435 at a bankruptcy sale. The outside looks like it was roughly handled but the inner workings look like it was almost never fired. It shoots great. Did I get a good deal, and is this gun considered a 1911?

yes it's a 1911, and if it is a good shooter, then yes that's a fair deal.

Hello this is IMHO one of the best colt 45's ever built but to be correct it is closer to the 1911-A1 type most people don't denote the difference but theere were a number of changes between the two." praise the HARD-BALL gun" 0 -
Model 70 Colt 45acp? You did very well. This is one of the best Colt 45acp's ever made. My 2 cents [8D]

i bought mine new in 1982 for 359.00 retail. I have used it for most of my executive protection jobs. Thousands of rounds shot through it. Never never never a jam. The only thing that ever broke on it was one screw on the grip. Use the same barrel, same sights, same everything. Will group better than I can. I have a friend that shoots pro and he tried it, shot 14 rds the size of a dollar coin at about 60-80 ft open sights. Good enough for me. 0 -
aaaahhh the 70. My first 45 and my favorite. Congrats on a fine weapon.
