S&W, Sigma SW40. Any pros and cons?

I have one. I like it. I have never had a problem. I carry it CCW when ever I travel. I carry it with Hydro Shocks.
Having carried a double action .357 for twenty years the trigger is not an issue. Some don't like the trigger.

Contrary to Alpine's relply, I found my SW40F (first gen) to be unreliable, inaccurate and generaly ugly. I sold it cheap. I like Smith's and own 4 3rd gen steel guns (5906, 4006, 1006, 4506), but will never own another Sigma series. IMO, they're cheap for a reason.
Save the seals-club a liberal instead.0 -
I bought a new one in '93 or so. It was the first model to come out. It was a .40. I fired at least 1000 rounds through it before I foolishly sold it. I paid $563 for it. At the time, the high cap guns were all the frenzy due to the ban. I saw the newest ones at a gunshow last weekend for $279. I had to fight off the burning desire to buy one. I have gone 1911 crazy and so am sticking with them. I wouldn't hesitate recommending them and in fact have to others.

The grip angle feels great, but they all have the most g-d awful trigger pulls. Some of that might be fixed with reduced power springs, and I've heard a rumor that certain aftermarket Glock parts will help things, but I don't it for sure. 0 -
The more you fire it the smoother the trigger will become.And after all that shooting with it a better marksman you will become with your other guns.[^] [:)] [8D] 0 -
O.K. , I have several , I like them , have had NO Problems , also have a buddy (fellow local LEO) who carries one all the time , has sot them a bunch , with No Problems ...a lot dont like them because ??? Oh well !!!

I have the SW9VE (same exact gun in 9mm). I'm no expert by any means but I have been very happy with it (over 500 rounds through it and not 1 single problem). I have heard a lot of criticism about them most of which claim that "they are cheap therefore must be junk". The only ligitimate complaint that I have heard is the heavy trigger pull which you can get used to (or have a smith lighten it up if you prefer). I do recommend the enhanced (VE) series because the frame is supposed to be stronger than the older ones. 0 -
You should probably compare this thing to a Glock, since that's basically what it is. Gun is cheaper than a Glock. Its probably pretty close to equally indestructible in terms of being able to beat it up and have it still function. I found it less "boxy" and more ergonomic than a Glock.
I can't speak to reliability, but the one I tried seemed to work just fine. Others have reported problems. . .I can't say if that's related to break in period, ammunition choice, individual gun problems, or just an overall bad design.
As several others have mentioned, I found the trigger pull too heavy for comfortable accurate shooting. It was also a bit gritty, though that would probably improve with enough boxes of ammo through the gun. It was definitely *inferior* to the Glock trigger. I suppose you could get used to it. . .but why? ;-)0 -
O.K. , here we go again ! I like mine , have a couple of these , never had any problems , and the prices are great ! A lot of these 'gun guru's' do not like these , sorry to hear about their back luck and poor choices !!!
