Instead of asking what the best 7.62x39 ammo is available, is there a brand ammo to stay away from?

    Is the Russian(Wolf)ammo in 7.62X39 hard on the working surface of the AR 15 type American made rifles that fire this steel case round.If not which AR type rifle would be best suited for this round in a combat situation. Thanking you in advance. ...tavarish..

    No problems here either ,shoots as good as wolf or any surplus i tried from my norinco sks maybe a bit dirtier that about it

    Silver Bear is as good as Wolf as far as I could tell. I liked the Tiger ammo, too. I've heard, from those who deer hunt with an SKS, that you shouldn't use Russian JHP for hunting, the points don't open too well. Use the soft point.

    The Yugo surplus for sure is corrosive, but ordinary cleaners, (Hoppe's, etc.) will neutralize it. Corrosive primers are nowhere near as bad as black powder, which is where all the corrosion scare stories come from.

    Just clean a gun every day that it gets fired. Simple as that.

    The Yugo is good ammo, very few FTFs, and you get free stripper clips, ready to go. And a cool wooden crate!

    That's Cabela's home page. Click on "Hunting,Optics" on left menu. Then, click on "rifle ammo". Scroll to last entry on "rifle ammo" page and click "7.62x39bulk|".


    When you click on the link to the 154 grain soft point, the images are of the 122 grain HP. Wolf is going to change the images soon, and therefore Cabela's too, since they use Wolf's images. The info is correct, so don't let the wrong images confuse you. See my picture below:
