2nd Gen SAA Colt Buntline

Hi all

I have a 12" Colt Buntline mfg. in 1957 1 of 4000 made, I'm considering putting it up for auction, might anyone know the value or a rough est. I know value is based on condition. Any info would be appreciated.

    The condition makes a lot of difference in the value of the revolver. Tell us what percentage of the original finish remains, if there are any rust pits, if the grips are original and if there is the original box and paperwork with the pistol.

    A 1957 manufacture date would indicate an "Early 2nd Generation" SAA.

    Value will depend on caliber, type of finish, and condition. Depending on caliber and condition, could range from $600 to $2,350.

    Add 30% for original black box in good condition.
    Add 20% for original nickle finish

    The only barrel-length premium is "Add 15%" for an original 4 3/4" barrel.

    Thanks for the response, I will post pictures of it. No papers and no box, its 45 cal, Colt buntline special, the stocks are stag which were one of 3 choices at the time of mfg and purchase. you can see a very very slight wear of the blue on the cylinder from rotation and the right side of the barrel has a slight blemish on it other then that the blue is perfect.

    There was some rust which i cleaned an treated at the time I picked it up under the right stock near the butt. There is no wear on the firing pin which leads me to believe it has never been fired or if it was had only a few rounds put through it.

    The barrel is stamped with a BB followed by 3 digits, which i was told is how the designated the 4000 made. thanks again for you help.

    I believe that all standard 2nd gen Buntline's came from the factory with walnut medallion grips. Many other kinds were available as parts or installed by the Custom Shop.
