"GM" question???

anybody know when Colt started stamping the words 'Government Model' on their military slides? i think they swapped sides it was imprinted on around 47/ 48, but i can't find out when they started stamping it or if it has always been there. thanks.> bob

Hello I am not the sharpest knife in the rack but are you Talking Slides or Frames . As far as I know only the commercial frames had the words "GOVERNMENT MODEL" and that was on the right side of frame between the slide stop pin hole and the grip frame. "PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN" 0
