S&W 1911

I was poking around a gunshop and looked at a new one. The owner quoted me 625 out the door.

This one is SS with all the toys...

Anyone have any first hand knowledge of them?

  How does Smith's 1911 compare to other 1911s and/or the Kimbers. I have been thinking of buying a full size 1911, either a new Smith 1911 or a used Kimber, possibly a Gold.
  
  I was told that the Smith is a real shooter. I have a Kimber with a 4 inch barrel and it's my standard to compare other pistols.

  You could do a search on this subject and come up with varied opinions. I own two, including one of the very early ones for which there was a recall involving the safety mechanism. Mine are both quality pistols, very accurate and reliable, and I recommend them. I own more 1911-type pistols than I care to admit to, and I consider the SW1911s among my best.[^]

  Hello IMHO good quality and I guess you are not a Bulls-Eye target shooter if you are going with SS . But just a heads up the S&W 1911 is NOT LEGAL in C.M.P. matches "PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN"
