Beeman Air Rifles

Does anyone have a suggestion as to where a person should call for the best prices on a new Beeman Air Rifle. I was most interested in the R9 Model. I have one thats a .177 caliber now and was thinking of getting a .20 caliber also. The one I have [?]now is around 10 years old. Does anyone know if the current ones are still made in Germany and is the quality still as good as my old one would be. Thank You

    i thought beeman was british? they were always in kahootz with finwerkbaugh(sp) then again, i havent shot a beeman in 21 years!

    Wow . . . I never thought I'd get to say this but BobSki is wrong! All kidding aside Robert Beeman was actually an importer of a number of German and Brit air rifles. A number of his gas ram guns were specifically designed by Theoben (a Brit company). The company Beeman founded has been sold, but they still sell the same line of quality air rifles. Note the Beeman company also offers a lower quality line under the Beeman name (mfg. in Spain). The R-9 is a wonderful choice, I've owned several. The 20 calibre is a hard hitting air rifle capable of squirrel kills at 35 yards plus. Check out the Straightshooters web site for some good sale deals (and a little education on what is out there). I've purchased R-9's on sale locally for as little as $200.00. Robert Beeman really made his fortune in promoting mail order air rifles with state of the art brochures and high quality photos. After viewing his catalogs air gun enthusits couldn't help but step up and purchase one of the state of the art air rifles offered by Beeman. I'm unaware of Beeman ever actually producing anything . . . but Beeman went to great lengths to import the best of the German offerings. In my opinion center fire shooters miss a tremendous oppertunity to improve their shooting skills by not owning a quality air rifle. A scoped R-9 is a perfect rifle for practicing scope acquisition and off hand rifle shooting. If you can't make it to the range, or don't live in the country, an quality air rifle will enable you to plink 25 rounds every morning over coffee. Routine basement shooting or discretely out the back door can tremendously improve a mediocre or rusty shooter. After a summer of pellet plinking I watched my center fire groups shrink considerably. The R-9 also has a wonderful adjustable Rekord trigger that is easily comparable to some of the better center fire triggers. Check out the Straightshooters web site. The R-9 is a great choice in my book.

    I'm well pleased with my Beeman, but the local pidgeon population isn't![}:)][:D] I found out the hard way about airgun vs rifle scopes and the reverse recoil. If you scope it make sure the scope is airgun specific or you can knock the lenses out of a good scope.
    .22lr, do you have a BIG 5 Sporting Goods store near you? They have some good prices on the Beemans.
