I think these work just fine as they come from the factory. Do some basic trigger work and go shoot.
On the other hand, they make great custom walking varminter rifles. They are vaguely reminiscent of the older Sako A1's in size and handling. Lots of variations to use these actions for in projects. I have one in the works right for the 7.62 x 47 which is the .222 Rem. Mag. necked up to 30 caliber...

G-, I tried to get one of those Daly Mini Mausers in 7.62X39 for my son to deerhunt with a few years ago when he was smaller framed. He is bigger than me now, but anyway, I wanted to get him a bolt action 7.62X39 so he could practice alot with mild recoil. The Charles Daly Mini Mausers are made by Zastava and they were held up from coming into the USA for some reason and I got tired of waiting and got the Ruger M77 bolt action. I saw a Daly Mini Mauser at a gunshow a few months ago. It was the "superior grade" with deep european blueing and a high gloss stock. It was a very nice looking gun, but the guy was asking $499 for it and my buddy with a FFL can get it for $329 so I passed it up. I was amazed how accurate the cheap Russian Wolf ammo is out of a bolt action. Sub MOA. I was also looking at the CZ 527 bolt gun for $429 NIB. Bottom line, if you can get a deal on the Daly, you will be getting a nice looking, apparently well built little rifle with a solid bolt lockup. I cannot attest to the accuracy though. Never shot one.

almost baught one, checked it out and it looked great. the guy who customized it also customized my 7X57 mauser 98. that can put 3 shots in 1 hole at 120 yards.

T;hanks to all. I am going to get one in 223. I am interested in hearing more about the 7.62 X 222 Mag. I picked up a 223 at the range and it was 30 cal. , Not the 300 X 221, but on the 223 case. Every thing has been done onc3e before i would guess. Thanks again. 0 -

The 7.62 x 47 is just the 222 Rem. Mag. necked up to handle .308 bullets. This particular idea is for lower recoil, longer shooting sessions with higher accuracy potential. The smallest cases that we use now with 30 cal. are the Remingtom BR cases at about 38 grains of H2O. This case holds about 32.5 grains which is comparable to the PPC cases and less than the 7.62 x 39 cases. But no comparison is intended.
I have always liked the 222 Rem. Mag. cases but they were getting hard to find until the advent of the 204 Ruger and Remington decided to bring this case back into production. So this is just a way to experiment with the longer case proportions instead of falling back on the PPC cases which are getting fairly pricey. I also just happen to have a set of dies...
This is not in the vein of the hyper-velocity cartridges at all. In fact, these are a bit on the pokey side. I am planning to use the 125 Nosler BT, 135 Sierra SS Pistol, 150 Nosler Partition and the 155 Hornady AMAX for starters. The velocities should be in the neighborhood of 2500 FPS with the 125's, down to 2150-2200 FPS with the 150's. This is all from a 22" barrel but with the chamber throated out to allow for 2.500" OAL. The barrel is a #2 contour so it's not a target barrel at all since I really want to be able to walk with it for long periods of time.
