well it might work fine the way it is or it might not feed right. One of my customers put on a 22250 barrel and then messed with it for a month and still couldn't get it to feed so he bought one of those single column detachable mags for $35 and it finally works fair.

What kind of M98 action do you have in mind? The standard length surplus milspec action is way long for the project. The bolt face should be correct, but the feed rails are set up for 8x57, most likely, and may have issues. If you went for a intermediate length action, like the Yugo 48 then it would probably be closer to working with minamal tinkering. The easiest would be a Charles Dayly action set up new for the 22-250. 0 -
i myself see no problem. i have built many rifles on the 98 action. the last being a 6mm necked down to .22 cal... 6mm224
what will have to be done is the barrel installed and headspaced. the feedrails should work fine. might have to change out the follower once this is all done polishing of the feed ramp and leading edge of the barrel chamber should smooth things out.
