winchester 1905 1910 03 07

hi, i just picked up the above 4 rifles. probably going to sell a few. my question is the 05 has a nickel or chrome finish on the reciever and some light surface rust. i'm afraid to clean it at the risk of doing more harm than good. what would be the best way to clean this or should i leave it alone? i have used iosso (or something like that) bore cleaner with good results on lightly rusted blueing would that be okay to use on this finish? also need mags for the 10 and 05 any ideas? the 10 also could possibly use a forearm, very top is cracked off, the last 1/4" or so. is this worth replacing or should i leave the original on. sorry for long post and thanks for any help

    Although it's doubtful that the nickel finish on the 05 is original, it always a possibility?

    If it could be established as a special order rifle with original finish from the Winchester it's value would be enhanced, IMHO.

    Perhaps it would be best to obtain a letter from Cody before attempting to remove the rust. It might value-wise be better left to a restoration pro if the finish is factory original.

    thanks, i just cleaned it using iosso bore cleaner, looks good, still some minor pitting that i'll leave alone. thanks again
    ps- any idea on what would be a fair price for an original clip?

    I don't know what the going price is but I had an original 10 round magazine for the 1905 that I sold for $40 a couple of years ago. You might do a search on ebay to see what they have sold for.

    Original 5-round magazines for the Model 1905, 1907, and 1910 run from about $50 to as much as $100. 10-round mags will be about 50% more.
