Info on Hi Point 9mm Carbine

Thinking about trying a 9mm Hi-Point carbine.. Wondering about quality and reliablity. I understand they have a very reasonable price, but don't want to buy junk.. Also what add-ons should I consider.

type in hi point carbine into search and you'll get a wealth of opinions. I bought my kid one a couple of months ago and it's a blast and surprisingly accurate out to over 60 yds, feeds reliably and eats up all the cheapo ammo i can buy. I wouldn't add on anything however, it's just not worth it, i paid 129 for mine. Have fun

I enjoy mine for plinking. It's very accurate for such a low-priced firearm, and I haven't yet had a problem with it. It doesn't seem possible to truly "take it down" for a thorough cleaning, though.

Never owned one but have shot one 6 years ago. For being a cheap hunk of____ it worked pretty good. Was easily able to hit clay pigeons out to almost 100yds.

However I'd take my Vector UZI (sold off but a decent profit [V]) over 7 Hi Point Carbines!

Anyone looking for one must understand that it is not a great gun, until you look at the price. I have shot a couple at the range and from what I've seen, it is a damn reliable little sucker that actually shoots well but once again I have to add, for the money. You won't get a better gun at THAT PRICE.

Mine's been very reliable,eat's anything I feed it except "Win-Clean" ammo for some reason and for the price(I gave $100 for mine at a pawn shop.),I'm not afraid to throw it behind the seat.As far as cleaning goes,all I've ever done is blow it out with compressed air and drown it with Break-Free.[:D]

They are great little carbines, at least mine is. It's more accurate and jams less often than my MP-5! I have no problems getting 5 shots touching at 100yds.
Disassembly is pretty simple, but be sure to catch all the tiny pieces that drop from nowhere when you separate the clamshell halves.
Our local PD uses them as patrol carbines, so that's something.

Excellent guns for the money.. keep them clean and lubed and you will have a lot of fun.

I've looked at them and read lots of great reviews. They're just so darned ugly! Maybe I could plug all of the bolt holes with rubber stoppers....hmmm....and if someone would invent a dual drum magazine for it...[:D]
