1952 Dated CZ52, any one know these?
About 2-3 months ago, I decided to un-do a mistake I made some 4 years ago, when I sold a CZ52 during a time I was short on funds. So, to undo this wrong, I ordered two from Military Gun Supply, like I say, some 8 to 12 weeks ago. I ordered from them because I had read they still had the original finish guns (which I guess is not true anyome). I paid the extra "hand select" option on one figuring I'd keep it back, and use the one that was typical as the shooter. I was a little dissapointed when I got the guns, because, quite frankly, because I could see no difference in overall condition of these two guns when I received them. One was dated 1952, the other dated 1953.
Recently, I read a thread that suggests that the 1952 dated CZ52's are quite a bit scarcer than the 1953 or 1954 dates. I am now wondering if, perhaps, the 1952 was selected as "hand select" because it was a 1952 dated piece.
While both these show some handling wear, I'd say neither was really fired. Just storage wear. The 1952 dated gun does show a bit higher quality machine work, particularly on the barrel, than the 1953 dated piece.
Considering the post where I read that the 1952 examples are scarcer than the other years, I had to ask, are the 1952 examples really that much scarcer than the others? And does that relate to a difference in value?

Some of the data I've seen suggests that production of the CZ 52, ( pistol ) was for only a short period of time in early to mid 50's, starting in 1952. Different references maintain production was for either (2) or (4) years. Even over that relatively short period of time, hundreds of thousands were made.
