Scope bases for a 1910 Mexican
What are the correct scope bases for a 1910 Mexican Mauser? 96 Swede? 93 Mexucan? Something else? S40

Hi--I see reference to a Model 1912 in my books, but not a 1910. Mausers were often dated with the year of manufacture on the receiver ring, so yours might be an earlier model like an 1895. In any event, Mausers basically break down into two categories for scope mounting: small ring and large ring. If yours has the third locking lug on the bottom of the bolt below the bolt handle it it very likely a later production version of the 1898 Model Mauser, and most likely a large ring. So any of the mount sets designed for the 1898 large ring model Mauser should work on your rifle. [:)] 0 -
most mex's i've seen are large ring short action. sdt. m=98 l.r. 2 piece bases. if you want a one piece base use a swede and reduce the rear contact part to level the base. there are exceptions as the mex's also used f.n. actions and maybe others. 0 -

1910 Mexican's are also referred to as 1910/36. Here is a description from Hoosier Gunworks:
2) M1910, M1936 Mexicans by FN and Mexico, 1.30 dia. receiver ring,
8.50 in length,with screw spacing of 7.620".
Small ring have a threaded shank diameter of .980 in. With 12 threads per inch.
Receiver is lightly different from other Small Ring Mausers
(Bolts will not interchange with any other model Mauser**.
** That's because it's a small ring intermediate Mauser.
From Brownells:
Slightly less common intermediate size actions are the 1910, 1924, 1936 Mexican, and the 1924 Yugoslavian. These are also about 8.5" long but have the features of the true 98 pattern action. They cock on opening, have the rear safety lug, and have the 98-style "flanged" shroud on the bolt. The 1910 and 1936 Mexican actions are small ring actions while the 1924 Mexican and Yugoslavian actions are large ring. Parts on all four of these actions are for the most part interchangeable; bolts, bottom metal, firing pins, etc.
You should be able to use the Weaver 2-piece bases #55 & #46 for the small ring Mausers. That way you don't have to worry about the length of a one-piece base. If the 1-piece is what you want, call Brownells.

If you want a class act. Good looking bases and rings and very strong and will fit anything look at Conetrol. They make mounts for anything. They are all I use and have put them on monstor calibers with no trouble. I prefer the custom line but they off a hunter line with the same quality, different finish with no difference in strenght 0
