The frame says ".38 Spl"

Is +P okay to shoot? regularly?

  Generally if it is an aluminum frame J frame such as a model 37 , it is not recommended to shoot a lot of +P ammo as it will stretch the frame.

  The term "airlite" was never used by S&W to describe the older aluminum frame models such as the M37. It will be either an "Airlite Ti" or "Airlite Sc".

  When these Airweights came out, I wrote Elmer Keith about it and still have his letters.
  He said he fired 500 rounds of 38-44 ammo through it without any trouble and pronounced it safe. Many years have since gone by and some people claim the frames stretch. From Keith's tests I would trust the gun with +Ps for limited shooting.

  He's talking about the old Airlites, not the Airweights.
