Titegroup or Win 231

Which is a better powder for general pistol use for 9mm, .40 cal, .45, etc., Win 231, or Titegroup?

I know it may ultimately depend on the gun, but I was looking for any experience that would lend someone to a preference one way or another.

Please let me know which you feel is better and why.

    I've used both in the past. As both are fast burning, generally only small quantities of either powder is used for a given load. There definitely not suitable for any sort hot/magnum loads.

    As far as measuring through a powder measure is concerned, as used in a progressive press like a Dillon, 231 is by far the best. I've had a lot of problems in the past using Titegroup for light loads. Doesn't measure accurately for me with light loads, with the different type of powder measures I was using.

    231 is about the universal pistol powder. I use more of it for general use in 9mm, 45acp, 40 S&W, 38 SPL, etc. If I want a little hotter load at similar pressures, I go to Accurate AA5. I use Titegroup in larger volume cases such as 45 Colt. It will probably work fine in the other rounds. It just has not been around too long, so I have not experimented with it in smaller volume cases.

    I have not had any experience with Titegroup on my bench. The lower volume / faster burning powders are not my favorites, but in some cases they are the best choice.

    I have quit reloading 9mm because there is so much cheap ammo around that performs well enough. I am close to doing that with most 45ACP.

    I'd like to hitch a ride on your post to ask if Titegroup is a 'higher volume' powder when compared to a similar charge of 231.

    I use tite group for light loads in large cases because it absolutely doesn't matter where in the case it rests. I've tried it in .455 Webley cases first holding a MKVI muzzle straight down and very slowly bringing it up to the target and then holding it muzzle straight up and did the same thing again. My chronograph registered within 15FPS regardles of what I tried.
