Franchi 48 AL question

Do these guns that run on the browning long recoil action have the same problem with busting the forearm like Browning a5s do?

Yes. The wood tends to split just ahead of the reciever on the underside. I do think the AL48 is a little thicker in the forearm though, so they are not as bad as the Browning A-5.

we have had good luck repairing these cracks by "glassing in" a piece of fibreglass mesh. My Browning A-5s are more prone to this than the remington model 11s.

I have my first franchi on the way and I am hoping for a good dove gun!

Great guns! I have the 20 ga and the only thing I wish it had was a magazine cut off. I have looked at many 48al's and not seen splitting. Now A-5's that ive seen are almost all split.
