Red Dot for handgun hunting

Need info on the Ultra Dot and the Burris Speed Dot 135 for hand gun hunting (deer) thank you, jeronimo.

    Hello ultra dot make a great red dot scope. Larry's guns is IMHO the best place to buy one I would go for the 30mm with the adjustable dot size . Small dot for small game and large dot for deer etc.I use these for both hunting and bulls-eye shooting." Praise the hardball gun"

    I have a few questions for you:
    1. How well do the red dots stand up to heavy recoiling guns, like .44 mag, 454 Casull, 500 S&W, etc.?
    2. How long do the batteries hold a charge in cold weather, e.g -10 degrees to + 20 degrees F ?

    I use Bushnell Holosights on some of my handguns , had one on both a Ruger SRH in 454 and 480 and later on my T/C encore 50 cal , never a problem
    battery life is good , I've never had one go dead yet during hunting season , but i always start offf with new one before season and I don't leave it on all the time , plus I do carry a spare set , just in case

    HELLO GUNSLINGER I have a ULTRADOT on a SINGLE SHOT BOLT ACTION CONVERSION UNIT ON A 1911 FRAME I also have one on a springfield 223 conversion unit on a 1911 frame . All my Bullseye guns have red dots and the 45's are mounted on the slide. this give the red dot recoil in both opening and shuting the slide my normal load is 4.6 grains of bullseye powder and 200 grain bullet . I have over 100,000 rounds and a red dot scope with the battery pack 90 degrees to the line of sight will not fail like the ones with parallel battery packs . As far as battery life the brighter you turn up the dot the shorter the battery life but I have forgotten and left mine on for a week and still are useable. I know GSKYHAWK likes the HOLOSIGHT but IMHO the tube sight gives better weather protection

    Perry Shooter , you're right I do realy like the holo sight for hunting , biggest reason is you don't have that tube to look thru , , you take a regular reddot and try seeing thru it early in the morning or late afternoon when the light is not very good and you get a red glare inside the tube , you don't get the glare with a holosight because there is no tube, with a holosight if you can see the game you can shoot it , thats not always the case if you are using a tube type reddot,
    now for target shooting like what you do a regular reddot will do just fine ,, different task different reddot for the job [:D]
