HOWA 1500 .300 WSM Opinions

Hi all!

Wondering if anyone is using the Howa 1500 .300 WSM, if so would like some feedback and pricing if possible please. Have a chance to pick one up one NIB for 375 tax, title and tag was wondering if it was worth it.

    All the howa's I've been around were great shooters. Haven't heard of any functioning problems involved with the short mag. Should be a good rifle.

    howa makes an excellent rifle, weatherby uses them for their vanguard line and that should tell you something.


    the .300wsm is my elk/deer caliber of choice and I love it

    for the money I don't think you can go wrong

    imay not know it all.....but at least I know that!

    I just picked up a .300 WM 2 weeks ago for $299 NIB. It's a great rifle.

    Thanks guys, I enjoy reading your inputs. Gogolen you got yourself a rather nice deal on it. So far what I have read on the 300 wsm it has rave reviews. I'm going to see if I can talk them down in price a bit, see what happens but still 375 for the pkg. isn't too bad a deal.

    Can't help with the .300 part, but mine is in .308. The Howas are fine rifles. I purchased mine as a barreled action from the previous importer and stocked it on a Boyd's stock. They are well designed and well made. I can't imagine you will not be pleased.

    The Howa's are excellent guns at moderate prices. Personally, I think the new short mags are way overhyped and would suggest a 7mm RM or .300 WM instead, but for $375 you really can't go wrong.

    Save the seals-club a liberal instead.

    Howas are great rifles, very smooth and accurate. Mine's a 1500 7mm Rem. Mag with walnut stock, skip line checkering, blued barrel with iron sights and a Nichols scope. I paid $325 used in like new condition. It's one of my favorite guns.

    Someone at work was telling me there is a write-up on HOWA 1500 models, in American Rifleman this months issue. I did pick it up today, and he dropped the price about 35.00 so for 340.00 out the door I was happy with that.

    Now soon as my scope gets here, I can get it sighted in and be ready for deer season. May have to look into the varmit riles Howa makes, soon as I can convince the lil lady I need another one..lol.

    I have the Howa 1500 on 30-06, I haven't actually shot it yet but it feels good in my room, lol. I paid like $410 for it but that is in California with all kinds of taxes and fees. Tell me what you think of yours when you get a chance to shoot it.

    Will do John, The write-up on the Howa 1500 models was very impressive, they had nothing bad to say about them. Seems to be a rifle that will be coming into it own soon enough. At the moment it seems to be a rifle not well known, I figure once folks start to catch on the price of the HOWA's will increase.

    I will most likely pick up another in a 243, 308 cal. soon as I sell the two relics I have, I need to get them up on the auction block :)
