Old Rem. 17A 20 ga. barrel swap?
Ok heres what i need to know.will a Ithica 20 barrel fit on this gun since its the FATHER to the Ithica's , I called ithica last year about this and they gave me the answer of a definite Maybe???? The barrel that is on it is just too long and full choked ,the wrong combo for my needs and i dont really want to cut it off.

short answer...NO, with enought $$$ anything is possible. about the same with the browning a-5 and rem. m-11, parts are close but no cigar. 0 -
why not have choke tubes installed? 0 -
I thought about choke tubes but didnt want to really alter the original barrel , i know its not a really valuable or collectable gun but its still about 85-90% cond. and its a family heirloom thing also would rather spend the cash on a barrel but no dice trying to find on for it located a few complete guns ,but there priced way more than what their worth. thanks for the answer anyhow . Buy the way how does the ithica barrel differ from mine look almost identical? Tim 0 -

what is wrong with a full choke. i hear others running them down all the time. unless hunting quail/snipes in the woods i only shoot full. there have been hundreds of times in my life where i have put down a feathered bird after others were empty.
if one learns how to shoot a full choke the world improves.

Oh theres not a thing wrong with a full choke barrel at all and wasnt trying to "run them down" I was just stating that a long tube and full choke setup dosent suit my hunting stye and needs. i mainly hunt grouse in verrrry dense cover without a dog and have alway used a imp. or mod. barrel , I ve tried using this gun as is but just didnt get as many kills . No im not the world expert shotgunner i will be the first to admit that ,I just want what works for me. 0
