GEW 43

A friend has a GEW 43 duv 44. Is it a 7.9 mm or an 8 mm mauser and do they use 8 mm mauser ammo? What else can you tell me about the gun? Is it rare, any info would be appreciated

    If you really want to learn about it, there is a fairly new book on the market (2 years) called "HITLER'S GARAND'S'

    It is about (primarily) the G-43, but has good info on all German infantry semi's of WWII.

    I also have a duv 44 copy with the durofol handguard and 4 power scope and mount. It has to be shot with surplus 8mm ammo as the Reminton and Winchester ammo just doesn't have the "ommph" required for reliable function.

    The 43 is a valuable rifle now. Let your friend know.
